Jurgen Klopp has stated that the summer transfer plans for the Reds could be halted for the time being. Widespread speculation persists that Liverpool FC would not make a major splash in the summer to strengthen their squad.
Instead, Klopp has been known to have insisted on giving more playing opportunity to the youngsters in the Liverpool FC side.
Klopp did admit to the financial fallout from the ongoing pandemic crisis playing a spoilsport to his summer transfer plans. Major footballing sides have reported several shortfalls in income due to the adverse effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. In such an event, the football transfer market has been shaken to a great extent.
However, Klopp said that the outbreak of the virus had a deep effect on the transfer plans of the newly crowned Premier League champions. The German coach added that it was a major possibility that there would be very few major signings in the upcoming summer transfer window. So far, Chelsea FC are the only Premier League side to have spent big money on the acquisitions of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
Recent reports indicate that the Reds would refrain from spending big in the summer on new signings. This is due to Klopp not wanting to restructure his title-winning squad. Moreover, there are plenty of Liverpool FC loanees returning to Anfield shortly.
Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic, and Rhian Brewster have all performed exceptionally well at their respective loan spells. These players would be hoping to pose a challenge for a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC side.
Klopp has emphasized the importance of further development of the youngsters in the Reds squad. The 2019-20 season has seen starlets like Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot, and Neco Williams step up to the challenge and flourish under Klopp’s guidance. The German coach has given these players ample playing opportunities in the domestic cup ties of the Merseyside club.
With the Premier League title having been won by Klopp’s side, the Liverpool FC boss would be hoping to give more minutes on the pitch to Elliot, Jones, and Williams. Besides these three Liverpool FC prospects, the German has also praised other graduates of the Reds youth academy. Sepp van der Berg, Jake Cain, and Yasser Larouci have all been tipped for a bright future at Anfield by Klopp.
