Injury Update

Jurgen Klopp speaks out on Jordan Henderson’s latest injury trouble

Further assessment is required at the moment on the knee injury sustained by Jordan Henderson against Brighton, according to Jurgen Klopp. The Reds skipper had been replaced by the returning James Milner after seemingly having hurt his knee at the Amex Stadium.

The English international had been involved in a collision with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma in the second half of the 3-1 victory for Henderson’s side. The Liverpool FC captain had then been substituted by Jurgen Klopp with Henderson’s deputy James Milner replacing him on the pitch.

In the post-match interview, Klopp stated that he was unaware of the seriousness of Henderson’s injury. However, the Reds boss did confirm that the midfielder’s injury could one that sidelines the Liverpool FC captain for a considerable period of time.

Henderson enjoyed a fantastic evening against Brighton on Wednesday, with the Reds skipper turning in an impressive shift in midfield for the Premier League champions. The 29-year old scored a wonderful goal in the opening ten minutes of the game. Henderson’s strike was nearly from 20 yards out and curled past Brighton goalkeeper Matt Ryan.

The English midfielder was again on the end of an Andy Robertson cross in the second half, volleying the ball on the first attempt. Despite Henderson’s perfect connection with the ball, his shot was saved by Ryan.

An injury to Henderson would not be a major concern for Klopp. There is no shortage of midfield options at Klopp’s disposal at Liverpool FC. Fabinho, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Gini Wijnaldum have all proven themselves to be fantastic players for the Reds in recent seasons. Moreover, the extremely versatile James Milner has also staged a comeback from his earlier injury and was a part of the last game for Liverpool FC.

However, it is a known fact that Henderson’s absence leaves a major void in the Reds’ midfield. The 29-year old acts as an anchor for Liverpool FC, with his high-intensity pressing and tireless work-rate. Klopp would certainly be hoping that Henderson’s injury is nowhere near serious and he manages to return quickly to the Liverpool FC squad.
