Jurgen Klopp to approve the departures of Origi and Shaqiri

The fringe first-team duo of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri could be sold by Liverpool FC in the near future following boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly having given the nod of approval to let both attackers depart the Merseyside club in light of their recent showings.

Origi started Wednesday night’s game against Atalanta in what was a rare start handed to the Belgian striker by Klopp, but the 25-year-old failed to make the most the opportunity by putting in a shallow individual display upfront.

Meanwhile, since the turn of the new season, Shaqiri has faced a number of injury troubles, severely curtailing the Swiss winger’s game-time on the pitch, and following Diogo Jota’s superlative run of form for his new side, Shaqiri’s future at Anfield beyond next summer looks increasingly uncertain.

According to reports from the Express, Klopp has sought to sell both Shaqiri and Origi in the upcoming January winter transfer window in the hopes of pocketing a sizable fee from the pair’s sale.

Takumi Minamino and Jota, both of whom have signed for the Merseyside giants this year, are looked upon as better attacking alternatives by Klopp when compared to Origi, a decision which would temp the Liverpool FC boss to part ways with the cult Anfield hero in the coming months.
