Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on the club’s newest recruit this summer, the 24-year old Kostas Tsimikas, by stating that the player harbours a winning mentality. The Greek international completed his move to the Premier League champions on Monday following the Reds having made an £11.75 million approach for the left-back.
Tsimikas checked in to Melwood, Liverpool FC’s training facility, after having passed the routine medical checkup. The former Olympiacos man has been signed by Klopp to bolster the full-back options at the Merseyside club. Tsimikas will act as a cover for Andy Roberton, previously the only first-team left-back at Klopp’s disposal.
The German coach expressed delight at having completed the signing of the 24-year old defender ahead of next season. Klopp stated that Tsimikas had been monitored by the Reds for quite some time and that the Reds coaching staff were impressed by his professional attitude.
“We have watched Kostas for a long time and are really happy that he has joined us. It’s the perfect news before we come back together very soon,”
“He is a very good footballer with an attitude to win and to compete, and I really like his mentality. It fits perfectly with the mood and the desire we have in our dressing room already.
Tsimikas had a been first-team regular for his former side Olympiacos over the past couple of seasons. The Greek international also has the valuable experience of playing in the Champions League, something that is kept in high regard by Jurgen Klopp.
“Kostas knows from personal experience what is required to challenge and succeed domestically and in the Champions League, and he is ambitious for more – just like us.
Reports suggest that the 24-year old left-back has signed for the Merseyside giants on a five-year deal. Additional rumours indicate the possibility of the new Anfield arrival earning a figure of £50,000-a-week following his move to Liverpool FC.
