Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will be at the helm of the Merseyside club for another four years. Following the stipulated time period, he would return to his homeland, according to Klopp. The German coach has been subject to a lot of media speculation regarding his tenure at the Merseyside club.
Upon signing a contract extension last December, Klopp’s stay an Anfield would now come to an end in 2024. The German had previously declared his intention of completing his agreed tenure as the Reds boss despite rumors of other top European sides attempting to poach him as their manager.
Klopp voiced his desire of returning to Germany and living there following his reign as the Liverpool FC manager coming to an end. The 53-year old added that he would like to live in Mainz, a city that is very close to Klopp’s heart. The Reds coach had been the manager of Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 for a period of seven years before being appointed as the Borussia Dortmund coach.
The German had also hinted at taking a sabbatical after leaving the Reds. Klopp had admitted to being interested in having nothing to do for about a year after all the energy that goes into being the manager of a top team like Liverpool FC.
Klopp’s name was surely entered into the history books when the German guided the Reds to their first Premier League title in 30 years last month. After succeeding Brendan Rodgers as the Liverpool FC boss, the German had voiced his plans for the Reds, which included both domestic and continental glory.
The Reds clinched the UEFA Champions League last season following a wonderful European campaign that included a majestic comeback victory in the semi-finals against FC Barcelona at Anfield. Further glory awaited Klopp and his high-flying Liverpool FC squad with victories in the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Following the Reds’ victory in the Club World Cup held in Qatar, Liverpool FC became the first English side in history to complete a historic International treble. Klopp was termed as a legendary Liverpool FC coach by former club greats Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish.
The Reds’ supporters would no doubt be disappointed in hearing Klopp’s recent comments regarding his future plans. However, with four years still to go with Klopp at the helm, the Liverpool FC fanbase would be hoping for much more laurels to come their side’s way.
