Jurgen Klopp’s success at Liverpool glorified by former Reds CEO in an interview

In a lavish show of praise for Jurgen Klopp, the former CEO of Liverpool FC, Peter Moore, who stepped down from the top executive post at the Merseyside club just this summer, has applauded the German for bringing the ‘Bill Shankly ethos’ back to the 19-time top-flight champions.

Klopp’s stock in world football has seen a tremendous rise in recent years, unrivalled by very few coaches across the world, and the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss is undoubtedly one of the top football managers to be in charge of the Merseyside Reds in the club’s famed history.

In an exclusive interview to BBC Sport, Moore was expressive in his eulogy for Klopp’s work at the Anfield outfit ever since his appointment to the job in October 2015, with the British business executive going as far as branding the 53-year old as ‘Scouser at heart’.

“There is no facade with Jurgen. There is no show for the cameras. He is a massive personality and a great motivator of men.

“We often reflect on the Bill Shankly era. The phrase he used was ‘I was made for Liverpool and Liverpool was made for me’. The same could be said of Jurgen. I think he is a Scouser at heart.

“He has all the attributes; caring for people, warm personality, he is charismatic and incredibly articulate. He understands the values of the club, what it means to the fans and how important they are collectively.

Moore was succeeded to the post of Liverpool FC’s CEO by Billy Hogan, who following his hiring promised the club’s ardent fanbase of delivering upon key transfer targets this summer, something that did see realization with the arrivals of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota at the home of the Premier League holders.
