Kalidou Koulibaly would complete the Liverpool puzzle

Former Liverpool star Andrea Dossena has claimed that Napoli superstar Kalidou Koulibaly would be the final piece in the puzzle for Liverpool to go over the hills and far away.

There has been speculation surrounding the future of the highly-rated Senegalese defender with a number of top clubs monitoring his situation.

The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked with a move to sign Koulibaly from Napoli over the summer. The 28-year old’s stock has increased drastically over the last few seasons after impressive displays for the Partenopei.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have also been linked with a move to sign Koulibaly over the summer to find a commanding suitable partner for Dutch star Virgil van Dijk.

Although it is no surprise the Koulibaly’s demand is high all across Europe, his transfer fee would also make clubs wary of whether it would be a good time to make a high bid for a player amid the coronavirus crisis.

However, former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena believes that Koulibaly would be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’ side propelling them beyond anyone else’s reach.

While speaking to reporters, the Italian explained that Liverpool needs a player that could partner Van Dijk and that Koulibaly’s arrival at Merseyside could put the Premier League leaders a cut above the rest.

Dossena said, “If the league resumes, Napoli will hardly qualify for the next Champions League, so the Neapolitan club will be forced to give up some important players – the most eligible are Fabian [Ruiz] and Koulibaly. Klopp is missing just one piece to complete a stratospheric squad and the Koulibaly-Van Dijk pairing could become a big barrier. Also, Liverpool have no economic problems and therefore the deal would be within the reach of the English club.”

Liverpool are already champions-elect in the Premier League requiring just two more wins to guarantee them their first top-flight title in 30 years.
