Manchester City playmaker put club rivalries to one side as he named the Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane as the best player this year.
The Belgian midfielder admitted that Sadio Mane has been “the total package” for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this year, and would be his choice for Premier League Player of the Season.
The annual Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards would have been scheduled to take place this Sunday on, April 26, but have naturally been postponed along with the rest of the campaign due to the coronavirus that has halted most of the football across Europe.
Mane has netted 14 goals and provided nine assists in the Premier League so far this year, and has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s star performers throughout their title surge pushing the Merseyside club 25 points clear at the summit of the table.

While speaking to BT Sport, the 28-year-old Manchester City superstar was asked to pick his player of the season to which he responded, “I would say, Mane. I think he has been the total package this year for Liverpool. He has been important, so if I had to choose somebody, I would choose Mane.”
De Bruyne himself is among the favourites for the award prior to the disruption of the coronavirus plague, with a combined 25 goals and assists in the English top-flight this campaign.

The list of favourites was, of course, dominated by Liverpool stars as Klopp’s unit need only six more points to be crowned as champions of England. Mane’s relentless in attack meant he was many people’s favourite to win the award but captain Jordan Henderson and last year’s winner, Dutch centre back Virgil van Dijk are also in the running.
