Adam Lallana might have already played his final game for Liverpool FC with Jurgen Klopp stating that he might not play the midfielder again over fears of a possible injury. Lallana is set to depart the Reds after signing a short-term contract extension that would extend his stay at Anfield until the end of the current Premier League season.
However, Klopp feels an injury to Lallana at this point of time could play spoilsport in the 32-year old moving to a new club following the end of his contract with Liverpool FC. Klopp has confirmed his intention of not risking the midfielder’s future by fielding the player in the next few games.
Lallana has not been a part of the Reds’ last four matchday squad’s post lockdown period. The former Southampton FC star is currently recovering from an injury niggle. The English international has only appeared in 15 Premier League games this season for Liverpool FC.
Since Klopp became the Reds’ boss in 2015, Lallana has not had the most impactful times under the German coach. A series of injury troubles have severely curtailed the midfielder’s playing time for both club and country. However, there is no denying the fact that when fully fit, Lallana is a menace to deal with for opposition defenders.
The 32-year old was one of the best players in the 2013-14 Premier League season when playing in the Southampton colours. His performances that season had earned him a spot in the PFA Team of the Year.
Liverpool FC tabled a bid worth £25 million for Lallana in June 2014 which was accepted by the Saints. Since then, the English midfielder had made more than 100 appearances for the Reds’. He was a part of the Liverpool FC squad that were crowned the Champions League winners last year.
The Reds’ supporters would no doubt be upset on not being able to see Lallana play once again for Liverpool FC in the remaining fixtures. However, Klopp seems adamant on not risking the player’s foreseeable playing future by selecting him into his starting lineup.
