Klopp expects more from Diogo Jota following his recent attacking exploits

Jurgen Klopp outlined his high hopes for the in-form Diogo Jota following the Portuguese attacker’s winning goal for the Reds against Saturday’s Anfield visitors in Sheffield United.

Jota’s header from a Sadio Mane cross in the final 30 minutes of the game sealed all three points for the Premier League champions, despite going behind to Chis Wilder’s side in the 13th minute. The 23-year old’s goal was his second in the Liverpool FC shirt since his big-money move to Anfield as a further attacking reinforcement for the Merseyside outfit.

While speaking to reporters in his post-game address, Klopp voiced his delight at Jota’s superb adaptation to life in the Liverpool FC colours, with the boss saying that he was expecting more from the ex-Wolves star forward over the course of the ongoing season of top-flight football.

“He’s still adapting to us, a lot of things are not natural to him that we do,” Klopp said.

“But that’s because Wolves play differently. A lot of things he did for Wolves are what we want him to do. That he is that close already is just a sign of how good a player he is, and if he stays fit, he is 23, the future is bright.

“We will need his quality, I’m happy with how he’s settled in.

Goals from Roberto Firmino and Jota clinched a crucial victory for the Anfield giants over the Blades on Saturday, and the result meant that Liverpool FC moved up to second in the standings, behind arch-rivals Everton just on goal difference.
