Klopp issues an injury warning over Alisson Becker as the Liverpool No.1 misses Ajax clash

Alisson Becker’s presence in the Liverpool FC goal for the upcoming Premier League fixture against Wolves remains doubtful, clarified the Merseyside outfit’s gaffer Jurgen Klopp.

The Brazillian international shot-stopper had been widely expected to feature in the XI for the Reds as they looked to take on Ajax on Tuesday night, but it came as a shock to many Liverpool FC supporters to see the name of Caoimhin Kelleher in the teamsheet.

According to the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp’s statements expressed major doubts over Alisson’s return to the starting XI in time for Sunday’s Anfield showdown against Wolves.

“So it’s not COVID, I think it’s something we have to mention when it’s not the case – and it’s not the case.

“He told us after the game that he felt in the 60, 70th minute of the last game his hamstring. [We] did a scan, it’s a little one but enough for today and probably for another week.

“We don’t know exactly, we have to wait and I’ve never heard about a hamstring is only four or five days, so 10 to 14 days I think.

Alisson’s rumoured hamstring blow adds to the ever-increasing list of injury troubles for Liverpool FC this season, with the star goalkeeper joining the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Trent Alexander Arnold on the sidelines.

On the back of an impressive showing in the 1-0 win over Ajax, Kelleher will be expected to step in for Alisson as the Liverpool FC No.1 against Wolves, particularly after the 22-year old put in a standout performance between the sticks against the Dutch visitors on Tuesday night.
