Prior to the Merseysiders hosting Ajax on Tuesday night at Anfield, Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp stated that star full-back Trent Alexander Arnold is on the path to full fitness following his recent trouble with a hamstring injury.
In an interview to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp confirmed that Arnold, who is certain to miss the mid-week Champions League clash against the Dutch powerhouses, looks better than before in his road to recovery.
“Trent looks quite good, but nobody gave me the green light for tonight so he will not be in it [training]. He hasn’t trained with the team and stuff like this.
“I saw him today on the pitch doing his rehab stuff outside, so that looks already good, but I cannot decide when this rehab stuff is finished. I take the players only in the moment when I get the green light and that didn’t happen yet.
“But from my rather experienced eye from what I saw today, it will not be that long anymore with Trent.”
The English international has been missing in action for his side since the 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City last month, with the youngster’s injury meaning more trouble for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the defence department following season-ending blows for both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Neco Williams is expected to be drafted in the right-back slot following Arnold’s recovery process as the veteran James Milner remains a doubt for lining up on the pitch against Ajax on Tuesday.
