Klopp Not Bothered About Liverpool’s Lead

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told his players to forget about their 11-point lead at the summit of the Premier League and focus on the visit of Everton on 5th December at Anfield.

The Reds made further ground on Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s men were held to a 2-2 draw at Newcastle and a 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield increased the gap to 11 points between the two English giants.

The victory against the Seagulls was Liverpool’s 13th win from 14 league games this season although Leicester City could cut that gap to 8 points with a win over Everton on Sunday.

With just more than a third of the season completed, Liverpool fans are already dreaming of ending their 30-year long wait for Premier League title. Last season, the Merseyside giants had their most successful season in terms of accumulating points but still ended up one solitary point behind Manchester City

However, Klopp has insisted that his team keep their feet on the ground and have his mindset for Wednesday’s Merseyside derby against Everton.

In conversation with reporters, the 52-year-old German explained that he does not think of the point gap at the top of the table, “We don’t think about the points gap or whatever, People told me tonight already that we are 11 points ahead but Leicester play on Sunday, so it still could be eight. That’s how I see it. None of these 13 games we won were easy, we didn’t feel that for a second. We only have to make sure we are ready always – and always for the next game.

Klopp further added, “Result-wise, it is an incredible period for sure, but we don’t want to think about the last 14 games – we actually are concerned about the next one, which is on Wednesday against Everton and is a big one.”
