The return of the Liverpool FC supporters to Anfield on Sunday as the Merseysiders played hosts to Wolves was subject to a generous helping of praise for the Kopites from the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp’s men ran riot against the weekend visitors at Anfield, with goals from Salah, Wijnaldum, Matip, and a Nelson Semedo own goal giving the Champions of England a well-deserved outing in Premier League action.
Sunday’s game saw Liverpool FC supporters, however, just 2000 in number, returning to the Main Stand for the first time this season due to the easing of restrictions of the United Kingdom government.
Klopp was overjoyed by the same, with the German coach, in a post-game interview to BBC, playing up the impact of the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ anthem which as sung by the fans in attendance prior to the match.
“The game, the atmosphere, it was so nice. I had goosebumps. They started ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – really nice. I never knew it could feel that good.
“This started in February and we were waiting to get normality back,” he continued. “Normality is good – I don’t think we appreciated it as much. It was very very touching.
“Wasn’t it a perfect night? Whatever the weather was like outside, it was sunshine inside the stadium.
With the win over Wolves at home territory, the Merseysiders reclaimed the joint top spot in the Premier League standings alongside Tottenham Hotspurs, with Klopp’s men trailing the North London outfit just on goal difference.
