Injury Update

Klopp rules out Thiago for the game against Manchester City on Sunday

Thiago Alcantara will be absentee from Liverpool FC’s travelling party to the Etihad Stadium for the weekend showdown against Manchester City, confirmed Jurgen Klopp in his recent press conference.

The Spanish international has been notably missing from the Reds’ matchday squad over the last couple of weeks, following him sustaining an injury during the 2-2 stalemate in the Merseyside derby.

His absence would come as a massive blow to Liverpool FC’s chances of upstaging their fiercest title contenders on Sunday, as Jurgen Klopp’s side seek to continue upon their recent run of good form in the Premier League with a win over the blue-half of Manchester.

“No, Thiago is probably not ready to return. No surgery needed but it was still an injury and with this type you look day to day. When he has no problems any more then he can train. That’s not the case yet with Thiago.”

Klopp’s comments throw light on the fact that despite the Spaniard having made a return to training sessions at Melwood earlier, there is still a long way to go before we see the 29-year-old back again in the Liverpool FC shirt.
