Neco Williams and Sadio Mane were singled out for praise by Liverpool FC gaffer Jurgen Klopp in the aftermath of the Merseyside Reds running riot at Anfield with a 4-0 victory over Wolves.
Williams slotted in at the right-spot for Liverpool FC following James Milner’s injury niggle last weekend, and the 19-year-old was superb in his showing against Sunday’s Anfield visitors, building on the back of his great performance in the mid-week UCL fixture against Ajax.
Klopp was delighted with his player’s showings in the weekend showdown, with the Liverpool FC boss explaining the need to take Williams off the pitch primarily due to the teenage defender being on a yellow card prior to Wolves bringing on the rapid Adama Traore off the bench.
“The young boys were really great.
“Neco Williams, we only took him off because the plan of Wolves was obviously to bring (Adama) Traore on to the left wing so that if Neco makes one more foul, maybe he gets a second yellow. He played really, really good.
Sadio Mane also was subject to high praise from his boss in Klopp’s post-match remarks, as quoted by the Mirror. The Senegalese international forward was unable to find the back of the net despite a great individual attacking performance from him, but Mane was key to Nelson Semedo putting the ball into his own goal amid the move crafted out by the Reds frontman.
“Sadio had a few moments where he controlled the ball where I still don’t understand how he can do those kind of things.
“There were a lot of good performances and that’s how you can win a football game.”
