Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke has admitted that the German’s long term future at Liverpool might be based on the famously unpredictable weather conditions in England.
The 52-year-old Klopp was appointed by Liverpool back in October 2015 after the sacking of Brendan Rodgers and extended his contract for another three seasons after his debut campaign for another three more years.
However, Klopp admitted that he might retire after his current contract ends with Liverpool in 2022 but it’s quite obvious that the European champions want him to remain at the club for a longer time. Having guided Liverpool to success over the past few months, the Reds want to offer him another contract extension but Klopp is stalling with the new deal.
And Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke has revealed that his clients future may depend if he is content with the weather at Merseyside. While speaking to DAZN, Kosicke said, “Jurgen’s contract is still valid until 2022 and it is an open secret that the club would like to extend. We still have a little time for that. We must wait and see how everything develops and whether climate change will bring better weather to England or only to Germany. One should not underestimate [the bad weather]. I remember that in November or December, Liverpool first asked for a contract extension. I said: ‘Let’s wait’. Ulla [Klopp’s wife] and Jurgen get up in the morning and it’s dark. When they meet again in the evening, it is also dark or it is grey and there is drizzle.”
The Reds have had a tremendous start to their new campaign winning five out of the initial five games at the start of the Premier League and the main aim this term is to dethrone Manchester City as champions of England.
