Goals from Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane ensured the win for Liverpool over Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday.
MATCH PROCEEDINGS
Both teams looked raring to go right from the start but it was the hosts Leeds United who enjoyed the first pop on goal which was denied by Liverpool’s ever-present No.1 Alisson Becker.
The visitors then gained ground when going forward on Illan Meslier’s goal and were swiftly rewarded for the same with Trent Alexander-Arnold teeing up Salah for the opener, the latter bringing up his century of goals in England’s top flight.
Liverpool’s advantage could have been doubled before the break with Salah this time turning the provider for Thiago Alcantara who nodded the ball with his head into the net only for the offside flag to be raised at the sideline.
Fresh off the half-time respite, Klopp’s men got the second on the scoreboard through Fabinho who was in the right place at the right time from Liverpool’s corner to tuck the ball past Meslier.
A buoyant mood amongst the Liverpool players and fans took a turn for the worst with the 18-year-old Harvey Elliott being brought down by Leeds defender Struijk who was given the marching orders by referee Craig Pawson while the Liverpool teenager had to be stretchered off the pitch.
Reduced to 10 men on the pitch, the hosts had to bear the brunt of a charged up Liverpool side who were keen on adding to their tally but Patrick Bamford hoped to provide some comfort to the home supporters as he went close to pulling back a goal only for Alisson to hold his ground.

Sadio Mane, often finding himself in the right spaces but unable to find the back of the net, left it late to put the match firmly out of Leeds United’s grasp as the Senegalese powered through his strike for Liverpool’s third goal of the game.
