MATCH PROCEEDINGS
Jurgen Klopp’s men started the game well on the attacking front and looked the clear favourites to get the opening goal of the Monday evening match.
The first effort on goal for Liverpool FC was from Thiago Alcantara and the Spaniard’s strike was a pretty solid one calling into action Meslier who tipped it over the bar.
On the other end of the pitch Alisson Becker stood his ground to deny Patrick Bamford after the Reds had been caught out by the Leeds frontline following a misplaced pass from Fabinho.
However, the visitors revived momentum and soon took a well-deserved lead through Sadio Mane who was set up by a clever bit of play from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The start of the second half proceedings was notable for Diogo Jota coming very close to doubling Liverpool FC’s advantage as he got his head on Andy Robertson’s delivery into the box.
Bamford sought to take things into his own hand on what was a frustrating outing for the Leeds striker otherwise as his strike clattered the crossbar with the hosts on the hunt for the equalising goal.
Alisson was called into action once again and the Liverpool FC No.1 was flawless in his abilities to keep out Tyler Roberts’ effort on goal following which Mohammad Salah, left on the bench at the start of the game, came very close to finding the back of the net on his own.
A corner kick delivery from Jack Harrison found the lurking Llorente whose header was enough to get the better of Alisson and make the scoreline 1-1 which meant a valuable two points being dropped by the Merseyside Reds on their travels away from home.
