Leeds United pull the plug on £17 million Harry Wilson transfer

Liverpool have been handed a major blow in their attempts to offload fringe first-teamer Harry Wilson this summer for a sizeable fee with Leeds United bowing out of the race to sign the winger.

Reports from The Express suggest that the Elland Road outfit are not willing to match the £17 million offer being demanded by Jurgen Klopp’s Reds who are in search of funds to make additional signings.

Wilson is not backed to have a long-term future at Anfield beyond this summer’s transfer window after what has been a number of loan spells away from the club for the young Wales international.

He spent the last season at Championship side Cardiff City and despite showing promising signs which indicate his talent in the final third of the pitch, it is understood that Klopp is keen on making sure of a permanent deal for Wilson ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season.

Whether Leeds United’s withdrawal from their extended pursuit of Wilson has a major say on his Liverpool future remains to be seen as there are bound to a host of sides across the land wanting to bring in the Welshman.
