Liverpool suffered a major setback in their title hopes with Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders falling to a 1-0 defeat away at Leicester City on Tuesday night.

The visitors were much dominant in the opening period but had nothing to show for it as the attacking lineup failed to get past a resillaint Leicester backline.

A major breakthrough came Liverpool’s path when Mohamed Salah was brought down in the box by Ndidi only for the Egyptian to have his effort from the spot denied by Kasper Schmeichel and missing on the rebound too.

Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane were unable to capitalise as well with Jurgen Klopp’s men having to settle for a nil-nil affair heading into the half time interval.

Changes kept on coming for the Reds with Mane after a neatly timed pass from Jota set him through on goal put his strike over the bar in what should have given Liverpool a hard-earned lead.

Instead, it was Leicester City’s attacking talent off the bench in Ademola Lookman who broke the deadlock just before the hour mark as he slotted his finish past Alisson into the back of the net.

Despite Roberto Firmino coming on to bolster the options in the final third, Liverpool failed to find a leveller to suffer their second league defeat of the season.
