Sven Botman’s move to Anfield could be finalised come the summer if the Merseysiders fork out a fee worth £39 million for the Lille central defender.
According to reports from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, the French club have sought the aforementioned price to part ways with the highly-rated centre-back who is understood to have a number of suitors across Europe going into the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s misfiring outfit are reported to be long-term admirers of the Dutch defender and despite bringing in additional reinforcements on deadline-day in the January window, the Liverpool FC boss is known to be wanting to sign Botman ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Lille’s impressive top-flight season has largely been attributed to solid showings at the back and Botman has played a major role in that happening, leading to persistent speculation about his future at the close of the ongoing season.
Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are also interested in the 21-year-old defender, leaving Jurgen Klopp with much to ponder over when the summer arrives as the Reds gaffer seeks to fortify an injury-hit backline on Merseyside.
