Liverpool 0-1 Fulham Match Report | Premier League 20-21

Liverpool FC were condemned to a sixth straight defeat on home soil as visitors Fulham walked away with a well-earned 1-0 win from their travels to the Merseyside.

In what would further add to the ever-increasing worries for Jurgen Klopp, defeat on Sunday at Anfield to Scott Parker’s side was the latest of many setbacks that have come Liverpool FC’s way in recent times.

Fulham sought to trouble an under-fire Liverpool FC side in the early minutes and it was former Evertonian Ademola Lookman who had a great chance to open the scoring but failed to get his sights on the goal.

With Mohammad Salah inching close to finding the back of the net, the visitors upped the pressure on Klopp’s men and Alisson Becker had to be called upon to defy Josh Maja’s effort.

James Milner had an ambitious try on goal but his effort proved quite high for the Red to register an early lead heading into the close of the first half.

It was Fulham who enjoyed a superb end to the opening 45 minutes with Mario Lemina’s driving effort going past the helpless Alisson to give Scott Parker’s outfit a deserved lead.

Fresh off the half-time break, the returning Diogo Jota nearly equalled for his side in the most majestic of manners as the Portgual international connected with a delivery into the box from Neco Williams, only for Fulham No.1 Areola to be at his best and palm away Jota’s thunderous volley.

Substitute Sadio Mane hit the woodwork with his try on goal and as the minutes passed by, it looked clear that it was the resilient Fulham backline that would get the better of an uninspiring Reds frontline to hand them yet another shock defeat.

Xherdan Shaqiri once again came very close to getting his name on the scoresheet with a well-worked curling effort and the Swiss winger’s strike was one of the very few chances enjoyed by the hosts in the closing stages of the game in what eventually finished in a defeat for the faltering champions of the land.
