Liverpool FC dropped more valuable points in Premier League football with Newcastle United earning a well-deserved draw on their visit to Anfield courtesy of a stoppage-time goal from Joe Willock.
MATCH PROCEEDINGS
The hosts got off to the best possible start when Mohammad Salah took only three minutes to find the back of a net with a superb strike past Newcastle goalie Martin Dubravka.
A number of great chances fell Liverpool FC’s path in the minutes following the opening goal but clumsy finishing cost them dearly as Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane proved wasteful.
Dubravka was called into action a couple of times when going up against Salah who threatened to double his tally for the day but was stopped in his tracks repeatedly by the Slovakian shot-stopper.
Early on in the second half Roberto Firmino had an ambitious effort on goal from a first-time volley requiring Dubravka to make a great save with his feet on the near post to keep the Magpies in the contest.
The Newcastle United No.1 was in full force all throughout the game keeping his side very much in the fray to grab a late equalizer which materialized through substitute Callum Wilson as he bundled the ball past Alisson in the first minute of stoppage time.
But Wilson and Newcastle United could celebrate for little as the goal was ruled out due to the player having handled the ball in the build-up as Liverpool FC set sights on another home win which were shortly spoiled by Joe Willock in the dying seconds of the match.
The Arsenal loanee made the most of Liverpool FC’s defensive frailties and his close-range finish proved enough for the Magpies to snatch a draw from their travels to Merseyside.
