The home side started strong but Leicester City had their shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel to thank for making some important saves early on in the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold forced a good stop from Schmeichel and on the other end of the pitch Liverpool’s man between the sticks Alisson Becker denied James Maddison.
A corner for Liverpool saw Arnold’s delivery in the box headed by the unmarked Virgil van Dijk, drawing a save from Schmeichel, but Jota was there to find the back of the net from close range to give his side the lead heading into the break.
The returning Mohamed Salah, brought off the bench by Jurgen Klopp in the second period, made an instant impact going forward as Schmeichel had to be at his very best.
Salah hit the post with a curling effort which could have made for a fantastic strike to the Egyptian’s tally for the season but Liverpool had Jota again to get on the scoresheet.

Leicester’s frail defensive show allowed Joel Matip to nutmeg Ndidi with a pass to Jota who was clinical in slotting the ball past Schmeichel to make it 2-0 for the Reds and put the game to rest.
