Liverpool FC enjoyed an eventful opening 45 minutes in Budapest and had it not been for utter clumsiness in front of the goal, Klopp’s men could have easily taken a three-goal lead at half-time.

Mohammad Salah was culpable for missing a majority of chances falling his way in the first-half as the Egyptian international struggled to maintain his usual clinical self when through on the RB Leipzig goal.

Diogo Jota went close with a header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner delivery but the former’s effort was subject to a great save from Leipzig No.1 Gulacsi.

On the other end of the pitch, Liverpool FC’s Alisson Becker had to be called into action on a couple of occasions to defy the Leipzig players who strived to pull back a goal.

The Reds stepped out on the pitch with renewed energy in the second half and stood firm in the hopes of gaining a lead early on but were dealt a setback when Leipzig fashioned through an opening only for Alexander Sorloth to strike his header against the frame of the goal.

Klopp’s men replied back in the most clinical of manners as a brilliant link-up play between the frontline lead to Jota setting up Salah for an easy finish and the Egyptian did not disappoint this time around, wiggling past a couple of opposition defenders and slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Coming off the bench, Divock Origi made a vital contibution just minutes into his feature, setting up Sadio Mane with a pinpoint delivery as the latter prodded home an easy finish to put the match to bed for the Merseysiders.
