Liverpool started the game strongly but it was Newcastle who fashioned the early chances with the new arrival Isak creating trouble for the Liverpool backline.

Newcastle cut out Andy Robertson and Luis Diaz on the left-hand side where Liverpool were looking to bring forward their attacking endeavors in the hopes of getting the opener.

Diaz fired his effort over after being teed up by a brilliant pass from Roberto Firmino while on the other end of the pitch, Liverpool were in for a fatal blow.

Sean Longstaff delivered the pass for frontman Isak who made no mistake in slotting his effort past Alisson Becker into the back of the net to make it 1-0 for the visitors.

With the player’s energy levels renewed after the break, Liverpool’s search for the leveler bore fruit in the second period with Salah picking out Firmino in the box with the latter’s effort landing in the bottom left corner.

Fabinho and Diaz came close in the later stages with the game heading into five minutes of stoppage time which turned out to be of much importance to the home side.

More than seven minutes into added time, James Milner’s corner was nodded by Salah in the box and it came to Fabio Carvalho to slot home the winner.
