A much-changed XI took the field for the hosts with Jurgen Klopp on his return to the dugout ringing in major changes to the team sheet for the cup tie.

The Reds, however, were in for an early and shock setback with Shrewsbury taking the lead through Daniel Udoh in the 27th minute as he made the most of Liverpool’s frailties at the back.

Academy prospect Kaide Gordan found the back of the net to bring his side back into the affair with Klopp’s men soon going in the lead as Fabinho slotted his effort from the spot before the half time break.

Liverpool got the second half underway to a dominating start but were unable to add to their slender advantage with the Shrewsbury backline on top form.

Roberto Firmino came off the bench as Klopp brought on reinforcements in the final third for the home side and the Brazilian got into the action with a clever back-heel going past Marko Marosi to make it 3-1.

Fabinho left it late to make it two for the day for himself as the defensive midfield man netted from a tight angle with the Reds completing a superb outing to book a fourth-round berth in the FA Cup.
