According to the Express, Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is garnering interest from English giants Liverpool and Arsenal.
The 21-year-old, who emerged from Athletic Club’s youth system, has a contract set to expire in the summer of 2024, raising the possibility of a move shortly.
Williams, primarily a right-winger with versatility on the opposite flank, possesses speed, dribbling ability, and mobility that align well with Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.
Liverpool and Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation at Athletic Club, as the youngster’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024. While the Spanish side expects an extension, uncertainty regarding his future will increase next year.

The attacker’s future is expected to be a significant talking point in January. During this period, he will be free to engage in discussions with foreign clubs for a pre-contract agreement.
Additionally, this window presents Athletic Club with a final opportunity to secure a transfer fee rather than allowing him to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
For Liverpool, acquiring a player of his calibre for free could be of immense value, particularly if they decide to part ways with Mohamed Salah.
Despite being 31 years old, Salah remains a highly sought-after player and one of the world’s best. He also holds significant influence in the Saudi Arabian league.
There’s a possibility that Liverpool could secure a huge transfer fee by selling Salah to a Saudi Arabian club.
By bringing in Williams at no cost, Klopp could not only find an affordable replacement but also reinvest the funds received from Salah’s transfer into strengthening other areas of the squad.

However, there will be stiff competition for the Spanish international’s signature. Williams is considered a suitable fit for the team’s playing style and system, even if he may not possess the same level of dynamism as players like Jamal Musiala.
Only time will reveal whether the 21-year-old can follow in the footsteps of Liverpool’s wingers who have made a global impact.
