Liverpool To Compete For Hoffenheim’s Star Maximilian Beier

Liverpool wants Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier who caught the eyes of many Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford.

Recent news says that the 21-year-old Beier can be bought for a tempting  £27.5 million due to a clause in his deal, making him a highly sought-after option this summer.

Beier, who extended his contract with Hoffenheim until 2027, has had a remarkable start to the Bundesliga season. He netted six goals in his first eight matches, showcasing his significant potential.

This performance earned him a call-up to the senior Germany squad by coach Julian Nagelsmann, and he has made the cut for the European Championship on home soil.

Beier played his first big game versus Ukraine recently and might not be the first pick for the team, but he’s seen as a big help to Kai Havertz in Germany’s front line.

People see Beier as similar to Roberto Firmino, who did well at Hoffenheim before joining Liverpool in 2015.

Liverpool may want to find another star like Beier. During the 2022/23 season, Beier was playing on loan in the 2. Bundesliga with Hannover, improving his game and getting noticed by big teams.

Notably, he was on the radar of former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, and despite Klopp’s departure, Liverpool’s interest in Beier remains strong.

Liverpool is not alone in its pursuit. Manchester United, in need of additional striking options to ease the load on Rasmus Hojlund, was the first club to inquire about Beier.

This inquiry led Hoffenheim to highlight Beier’s release clause.

Nottingham Forest and Brentford are also in the chase, and Bayer Leverkusen from the Bundesliga is keen too. Beier’s buyout fee drops by  £1.7 million every year, making his move tale even more gripping.

Liverpool’s search for new attacking talent is driven by uncertainties regarding the futures of current stars Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

The centre-forward position saw rotations between Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez towards the end of the season.

As a result, sporting director Richard Hughes may opt to enhance manager Arne Slot’s attacking options by securing Beier.
