Liverpool assistant manager Pep Ljinders heaps praise on Takumi Minamino’s recent showings

Liverpool FC forward Takumi Minamino has garnered high praise from the club’s assistant manager Pep Ljinders, with Jurgen Klopp’s No. 2 likening the player’s ability to that of Roberto Firmino.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool FC’s EFL Cup fourth-round fixture against Arsenal to the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com, Ljinders was very vocal in his approval for Minamino’s showing against last week’s opponents Lincoln City in the EFL Cup.

The Japan international had scored twice in quick succession for the Merseyside outfit against their League One opponents to lift his side to a comfortable and well-deserved 7-2 win over the Imps.

“Wow – what a desire!” Klopp’s right-hand main said of the 25-year-old Minamino.

“He is somebody who turns our game collective as well, the same as what Roberto [Firmino] does. His development has been outstanding – he always give everything, each day.”

Minamino will surely be in contention to start the upcoming game against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Thursday on the back of his superlative showing last week in the domestic cup competition and could be partnered up front by new Liverpool FC signing Diogo Jota.

Jota scored his first goal for the Reds in his debut league appearance for Liverpool FC on Monday against Arsenal and will be hopeful of emulating a similar kind of attacking display come Thursday as well.
