Ex-Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Brighton’s Yves Bissouma should not be pursued by Liverpool who should instead eye up a summer swoop for the in-demand Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
Jurgen Klopp has a midfield spot to fill at Anfield in the aftermath of Gini Wijnaldum calling it quits following his contract coming to an end upon which he has signed a three-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the Brighton midfield maestro Bissouma who enjoyed a positive campaign last time around for Graham Potter’s men but the Mali international is a target for Arsenal as well with the onset of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor reckons that Jurgen Klopp should prioritise a move for Tielemans after his heroics this past season for Leicester City which finished in FA Cup-winning glory at the King Power Stadium.
“He’s definitely good enough.
“He’s a great player and Liverpool definitely need to replace Wijnaldum. I thought they needed another midfielder even if Wijnaldum had stayed.
“It’s definitely something Liverpool need to get over the line.
“I just don’t see Leicester letting him go though, even if the player wanted to go. I don’t see Leicester letting any of their better players go.”
