Jurgen Klopp is ready to part ways with Anfield outcast Marko Grujic this summer with the Serbian midfielder not backed for a future in the Liverpool shirt on the back of his numerous loan stints abroad in recent years.
Grujic is expected to return to the Anfield fold in the pre-season after spending this last season at FC Porto where he established first-team regular credentials and has given Porto motive to sign him on a permanent basis.
Reports from the Liverpool Echo claim that the Liga Nos outfit, however, will be challenged for Grujic’s signature by Hertha Berlin where the 25-year-old had spent the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons on loan and had emerged as one of their most influential players on the pitch.
With Klopp not expected to have a major transfer kitty this time around, he will be looking to finance his prospective signings by offloading some of the fringe players on Merseyside one of whom is believed to be Grujic.
The Liverpool boss is also in the transfer market searching for a midfield player of his own to fill the void left by the long-serving Gini Wijnaldum whose transfer situation has taken an unexpected turn as he finalised on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
