Liverpool FC target Ben White is set to stay at Brighton beyond this summer’s transfer window as the Seagulls’ £30 million price-tag for the center-back has been deemed too expensive for the clubs interested in signing the player, the Reds being one of them.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Premier League new-boys Leeds United had all expressed interest in making a move for White. However, Graham Potter’s side had stuck to their initial demands for the 22-year old center-back who was ever so influential on loan at Leeds United last season.
The defender’s performances across Leeds’s 2019-20 Championship season caught the eye of a number of top English clubs. White was a significant contributor towards Marco Bielsa’s side clinching promotion to England’s top-flight football league.
The Merseyside giants had been believed to be a major contender for securing the 22-year old center-backs signing ahead of next season. With Dejan Lovren’s move to Zenit, the Reds were lacking a quality option at the back to ensure an adequate squad depth and White had been identified to fill the same vacancy.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side was unwilling to shell out £30 million to secure the player’s signing. With a number of cheap alternatives being shortlisted by the Reds and White’s lack of Premier League experience, a decision to withdraw interest from signing the Brighton man was taken.
