Liverpool are speculated to have tabled a bid worth £40 million to land Lille attacker Jonathan Ikone who played an influential role in his side’s Ligue 1 title-winning heroics earlier this week.
According to reports from the Mirror, Ikone is understood to have found an admirer in Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp who is keen on improving his options up top on the pitch considering the results last time around witnessed at Anfield.
The likes of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane failed to hit the ground running in a consistent manner and despite both Mohammad Salah and new boy Diogo Jota enjoying superb spells in front of the goal, Liverpool seem to be in a need of a new attacking name.
Ikone has the ability to turn out in a playmaking role as well as on the flanks and on the back of his great 2020-21 campaign in which he scored seven goals and assisted as many times, the Frenchman could seek a move to a bigger club in Europe which could be Liverpool if the reports are believed to be true.
