Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella could become a priority target for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp in this summer’s transfer window following the Italian’s impressive run of form at the UEFA European Championships.
With Italy now in the semi-finals of the competition thanks to a 2-1 win over Belgium, a host of players from Roberto Mancini’s camp have stood out with their showings, one of which is the young Barella.
The central midfield player was an influential presence for his club as well last season during Inter’s title-winning heroics and with Jurgen Klopp on the lookout for a replacement in light of Gini Wijnaldum’s departure, Barella is in line to be courted by the Merseysiders.
Reports from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato claim that despite Inter wanting to retain their first-team star regular, financial difficulties at the Serie A giants could force them to accept a reasonable offer coming their way from Anfield this summer.
The 24-year-old Italy international found the back of the net thrice and registered seven assists across his 36 top-flight outings last season for an Inter Milan side that clinched domestic glory after a ten-year barren run.
