As reported by the Mirror, Liverpool’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe has received a major boost after the French star has been rumoured to be unhappy with his role at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe reportedly doesn’t want to keep playing for PSG and is searching for a quick resolution. The forward has long been a favourite of Liverpool, and if the player were to become available on the transfer market, the Reds might be the first team to put their determination to the test.
The 23-year-old was about to finalise a high-profile transfer to Real Madrid since the Spanish club and the player’s entourage had reached a verbal agreement. The player, though, couldn’t pass up PSG’s rich offer when they came knocking. He then signed a three-year contract, becoming the highest-paid footballer in the world at such a young age.
The joyful ending appeared to have shut the door on Mbappe’s transfer, but the player now seems to be reconsidering his decision and has repeated his desire to leave Paris. The French striker won’t go well with Liverpool’s current situation, but Jurgen Klopp would undoubtedly at least consider making Mbappe his flagship signing.
Sadio Mane’s exit couldn’t have come at a worse moment, while Mohamed Salah hasn’t been at his vicious best. The loss of the Senegalese has been keenly felt, and Mbappe might be the solution to all the issues.
One of the possible causes of the former Monaco star’s falling out with the team is his deteriorating relationship with Neymar and Lionel Messi’s growing influence, which is very obvious. The 23-year-old won’t be cheap, and Darwin Nunez was Liverpool’s most significant summer signing. Given that a huge sum of money would probably be involved, it is unclear whether the board will agree to this transfer.
Despite Mbappe’s high price tag, Real Madrid is well-positioned as an attractive destination, and a bidding battle may take place in the summer.
