Liverpool are close to triggering Barcelona midfielder Gavi’s £50 million release clause with the midfielder a top transfer target at Anfield for this summer’s window.
The Spanish midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield in the recent past with ferocious speculation over his contract impasse at Camp Nou which has dragged on since the turn of the year.
With Jurgen Klopp on the hunt for reinforcement in the midfield ahead of the start of the next season, the 17-year-old Gavi has emerged as a top name on the shopping list for the Liverpool boss who remains keen on launching a bid for the maestro.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Sport, it is claimed that despite Barcelona’s hard efforts to tie Gavi down to a new long-term deal and snub interest from the Premier League, Liverpool are closing in on triggering the player’s £50 million release clause.
Liverpool are set to dip into the transfer market this summer for a more technically astute midfielder player which is of much importance to Klopp and his scouting team as they look to renew their title challenge come the forthcoming campaign.
