Liverpool FC confirmed the much-awaited capture of Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak in a loan deal running until the end of the ongoing campaign.
The Turkish international signs with Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside outfit on loan and completed the move to Anfield in the final hours of the deadline day on Monday.
Kabak had been long reported to be a major target for Liverpool FC heading into the January transfer window as the Premier League holders sought to add reinforcements to a severely injury-depleted defensive core on Merseyside.
Injuries to Joel Matip in a recurring manner is understood to have forced Klopp to dip into the market and sign a long-term target in Kabak, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez not expected to return to the fold at Anfield in the remainder of the season.
Reports from the club’s official website claim that Kabak will don the No.19 jersey for his new side and will take the flight to England later this week.
