Liverpool confirm Thiago Alcantara’s signing

Drawing an end to a three-month-long chase for one of the most creative talents in world football, Liverpool FC have announced the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal.

Thiago arrived at the Melwood facility for his medical in the aftermath of which the Spaniard was officially presented as a Liverpool FC player and put pen-to-paper on his long-term personal agreement with the Merseyside outfit.

The Spanish international had been Jurgen Klopp’s primary target in this summer’s transfer window following the top brass of Bayern Munich confirming that the 29-year old had shown reluctance in extending his stay at the home of the Bundesliga champions.

Thiago was understood to be holding out on a desire to experience the Premier League once, with the playmaker about to turn 30 next year. Jurgen Klopp’s title-winning side seemed to be the best option for him to embark upon a new journey for despite interest in the player from Manchester United and the Anfield giants did not waste such a glorious opportunity to land the La Masia product’s signature.

The Reds will reportedly pay Bayern Munich a partly £5 million upfront with the remaining amount of the agreed £27.3 million transfer fee being spread over the four-year contract signed by Thiago with Liverpool FC.
