Two fringe squad players at Anfield departed the club on deadline day of the domestic transfer window, with Ben Woodburn joining Blackpool in a loan deal, and English starlet Harvey Elliot completing a surprise move to Blackburn Rovers.
In reports confirmed by the Reds on liverpoolfc.com, the two outgoings in the form of both attacking players concluded Liverpool FC’s summer transfer window, merely hours after Harry Wilson joined Cardiff City on a loan deal.
The former had been linked with a move away from Anfield all summer, however, despite interest from abroad as well, Woodburn was unable to agree upon personal terms, leaving his Liverpool FC future looking rather uncertain beyond the summer.
His goal against Leeds United in a 2016 EFL Cup tie made the Welsh international Liverpool FC’s youngest-ever goalscorer, however, the now 20-year old’s attempts to kickstart his Reds first-team prospects have gone futile.
Elliot’s move to Blackburn comes as a shock to many, considering that the 17-year old was making major strides in his overall development while turning out week in and week out for the Liverpool FC youth development squads.
However, the ex-England U17 international will get a golden chance to showcase his talents in the Championship while playing as a first-team regular for the Lancashire-based outfit as they seek to seal promotion to English top-flight football next season.
