Liverpool considered a shocking approach for ex-first-team star Raheem Sterling before Chelsea completed the deal to sign the England international from Manchester City.
Sterling made his move away from the Reds and joined Manchester City in 2015 with the Etihad giants shelling out a £49 million fee for his services to sign one of the most promising names in world football.
The 27-year-old, however, has failed to cement a regular berth on the City team sheet in recent times and is in line to join Chelsea this summer with Thomas Tuchel eager to make the attacker his marquee signing of the transfer window.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were understood to be in the mix for Sterling which would come as a surprise to many Liverpool supporters considering the player’s acrimonious exit nearly seven years back.
The likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain were also keeping close tabs on the Manchester City forward only for Chelsea to walk away with a prized signing to bolster their attacking lineup.
