Despite his big-money arrival in the summer of 2018 from RB Leipzig, Naby Keita is yet to make a lasting impact on Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool supporters ahead of the start of the 2021-22 campaign.
The Guinea international midfield man has failed to justify the sizable fees forked out on his signature by the Premier League giants as injury concerns and lack of consistency affect his chances of securing regular first-team action at Anfield.
Reports from ESPN now suggest that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be lured into shipping out the 26-year-old Keita in this summer’s transfer window with speculation rife that the German coach has run out of patience to deal with his player.
Keita’s potential heading out the exit door at Anfield could also open up a much-needed vacancy in the Liverpool camp for Klopp to bring in a new midfield face for which the Reds gaffer has been on the hunt for since the transfer window commenced this summer.
Florian Neuhaus remains Liverpool’s top target to fill the void in midfield left created by Gini Wijnaldum’s departure but is understood that Klopp could have to extend his wait until next summer to sign the highly-rated Germany international.
