Liverpool could bow out of Youri Tielemans race owing to pricing concerns

The Reds could be priced out in their approach for the in-demand Leicester City midfield man Youri Tielemans with the Foxes keen to secure a major payout for sanctioning their key player’s sale this summer.

Tielemans has emerged as a major target for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield in light of Gini Wijnaldum’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain with the Liverpool boss scouting the market for a fresh face.

The 24-year-old Leicester City man was in top form last season for Brendan Rodger’s side who finished the campaign as the FA Cup winners and clinched a fifth-place finish in the Premier League, narrowly missing out on the much-c0veted Champions League berth.

Despite Liverpool’s attention on Tielemans’ contract standoff with Leicester City heading into his Euros participation with Belgium, there is speculation that the King Power Stadium outfit will be seeking a big-money fee to part ways with their first-team star.

Journalist Paul Gorst, in a Q&A session on Liverpool Echo, claims that the Foxes are keen on being paid an amount north of £60-70 million for offloading Tielemans in the summer, which will go down well with those on Merseyside, including Klopp who has a substantially smaller transfer kitty to work with this time around.

“Leicester are likely to demand £60-70m plus, at a guess. I imagine they have no intention of selling their FA Cup-winning hero.”
