Liverpool could gain ground in their attempts to sign Lille midfielder Renato Sanches who has been a top target for Jurgen Klopp since this summer’s transfer window.
Klopp has been keeping tabs on the Portugal international Sanches with the Liverpool manager backed to bring in reinforcements from the market to bolster his midfield roster.
Sanches had been a top name on the shopping list at Anfield this summer but pricing concerns coupled with a lengthy injury problem for the 24-year-old had meant that Liverpool were forced to delay any plans of signing the Ligue 1 star.
Liverpool are credited with a strong interest in making a swoop for the former Bayern Munich starlet sooner rather than later and will have to compete against the likes of FC Barcelona and Arsenal to land Sanches who is contracted with Lille until 2023.
The Merseysiders, however, could be in for a major boost in their pursuit of Sanches with Lille president Oliver Letang admitting to BFM Lille ( via The Liverpool Echo) that Sanches will be allowed an exit should an offer from a big club arrive in the near future.
“I have already discussed with him, if an offer from a big club arrives, Renato will be able to leave.
“We will see what could happen but, for now, he is with us – and he’s happy.
“We saw he had been able to show an interesting level of performance during his return from injury at the end of the season, but also at the Euros with Portugal.”
