Liverpool could reignite move for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde in the January window

Liverpool could reignite a move for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde in the January transfer window after failing to sign him this summer in a big-money deal.

According to a report from the Spanish outlet Dario AS, it is claimed that an £86.5 million bid from the Anfield camp, in the dying embers of the summer window, was not enough to land the highly-rated Valverde’s signature.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders had been on the hunt for reinforcements to freshen their injury-stricken midfield early on in the new campaign and had been keen on moving in for Valverde but Real did not even respond to Liverpool’s offer.

The midfield maestro’s renewal at the Bernebeu means that he is contracted to the European champions until 2027 and Real Madrid clearly value the 24-year-old much more than £86.5 million which was Liverpool’s valuation.

Valverde has enjoyed a superb start to the current campaign with two goals and two assists in seven outings across all competitions and will clearly see his stock in world football rise with time.
