Liverpool could use Nat Phillips as makeweight for Jarrod Bowen approach

Liverpool could use first-team outcast Nat Phillips as a makeweight for their longstanding pursuit in signing West Ham United man Jarrod Bowen.

The Hammers forward player has been a top name on the shopping list for the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp who is expected to add to his options in the final third of the pitch when the transfer window reopens.

According to reports from The Daily Express, it is claimed that despite West Ham’s reluctance on parting ways with Bowen in the mid-year window, helping Liverpool to strike a deal with David Moyes’ camp could be the underused Reds centre-back Nat Phillips.

Moyes is understood to be keen on bringing in a new defender come January following long-term injury layoffs for both Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma in the West Ham fold and the 24-year-old Phillips is eyed up by the Londoners.

With Liverpool hoping to ship out the player on a permanent basis for a £10 million fee, Klopp will be backed to use the defender in a potential player plus cash offer to land the signature of Bowen.
