Liverpool defender Neco Williams signs for Nottingham Forest in £17 million deal

Liverpool defender Neco Williams signed for Nottingham Forest in a £17 million deal with the Welshman leaving the Reds camp after a 15-year stint.

Williams came through the youth setup at Liverpool and proved himself to be an able deputy to Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right-back role but could not gain valuable game time under Jurgen Klopp’s charge.

He was shipped out on loan to Fulham for the second half of the last season and his showings were of importance to the Cottagers’ return to top flight football for the upcoming campaign as Liverpool made the decision to cash in on the Wales international.

A statement from Liverpool’s official website has confirmed that Williams will be linking up with Steve Cooper’s newly-promoted Premier League Nottingham Forest who had earmarked the defender as a top name on their summer’s shopping list.

Williams turned out in 33 first-team outings in the colours of Liverpool and in the process, picked up Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup and Carabao Cup winner’s medals, after making his senior debut in October 2019.
