Dutch starlet Ki-Jana Hoever is rumored to be mulling over a possible loan spell away from Anfield this summer. The 18-year old defender is believed to be wanting to keep his options open at Liverpool FC after his sparse first-team involvement last season for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Hoever is rated highly by Klopp and is touted to be one of the Merseyside giant’s future stars by the German coach. However, the Liverpool FC boss has been unable to give much of the first-team action to the Dutch U-18 international this past season.
The presence of more experienced center-back options at Klopp’s disposal has been a major cause behind Hoever’s limited minutes on the pitch. Moreover, Neco Williams’ emerge as a cover for Trent Alexander Arnold means that the right-back spot too is out of contention for the Dutch defender.
In a recent interview, the ex-Ajax youth player voiced his desire to feature in as many games as possible for Klopp’s Liverpool FC side in the forthcoming campaign. However, Hoever refused to rule out a potential loan move elsewhere in order to obtain more playing opportunities.
“It’s important that I play as many matches as possible at the highest level. It’s hard to balance between top-level games and lower-level games. I have to figure out what’s best for me and then the answer will soon become clear.”
The youngster did, however, confess his fondness for the Anfield giants despite speculation surrounding his immediate future.
“I am happy at Liverpool. I can’t say there is a club I would prefer to play at now. Before I went to Liverpool, I liked watching the Premier League because of the competition, but my heart is now with Liverpool.”
