Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to swiftly complete his second signing of the summer transfer window in Saul Niguez with Atletico Madrid announcing the capture of long-term target Rodrigo De Paul.
The Argentina international midfield maestro, once eyed up by Klopp as well, is on his way to the Spanish capital city after Atletico moved ahead of other clubs in the race to sign the player for a deal worth £30 million.
Reports from The Daily Mail suggest that De Paul’s move to the Vicente Calderón this summer is set to pave the way for Liverpool to amp up their pursuit of Saul who has fallen down the pecking order at the La Liga champions over the past year.
The Spanish international is understood to be high on Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list for the summer window with the Liverpool manager scouting the transfer market for fresh blood after Gini Wijnaldum called it quits on Merseyside to seal a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Wijnaldum’s exit after anchoring the Liverpool midfield for five seasons has left Klopp an influential man short in the centre of the park which has led to the Anfield camp being linked with the likes of Saul and Lille’s Renato Sanches.
